  Being an A**hole
Posted by: Endoman123 - 2014-03-18, 07:37 PM - Forum: The Pits - Replies (1)

Okay, guys. So as a brother, I need to go out of my way to prank my brother bad. So on April Fool's Day, I plan to hack his computer. Sounds bad, but the virus I'll be programming will be *relatively* harmless (It will look and seem like a bad virus, but will only create a shutdown script in his startup folder). Update on how this goes, along with a download for this soon!

Okay, I'm going to admit, when it comes to using C/C++ and compilers and codes and... *smacks face on keyboard* its really hard to figure out how to set up all the libraries and dev environments, so if anyone can help me on that, that would be AMAZING

Tongue Hello Again!
Posted by: Tazeram - 2014-01-30, 10:50 PM - Forum: The Pits - Replies (2)

Hello to the people of the new Recaged Website & Forum!

Glad to see that you guys made a new website and kept going after the other website(s) discontinued! I admire the commitment you guys have to this project. Tongue

Anyways, i must apologise for disappearing for so long (again! (again!!)).
(not that i was contributing much to the project anyways, as i don't have Coding skills or 3D Graphics skills Confused)

I mean, errrrm, i don't even remember what my username used to be. Terrible. Rolleyes

All i can say, to maybe spark some memory of Slingers, is that i helped you come up with that username based on a DJ i had heard of called "Soul Slinger" hehe. I used to be pretty obsessed with Drum & Bass / Jungle music. Angel

It was a thread discussion i started way back on Planet Rollcage (R.I.P Sad ), entitled "Rollcage Dream" (or something along those lines), which inspired a group of us (Including me, Slinger and Jon) to make a 3rd Rollcage game ourselves and set up the RCX site.

What happened to Jon? Is he still in contact?

Anyways, i shall continue to stick around here. i haven't forgotten about this project. I just lurk around, as i am not really of much use.

My skills would be within Music Production. As i mentioned a long time ago, i could try and make some music for the game which could be catered with a similar 'vibe' to the original Rollcage soundtracks. After all, it was Rollcage that got me into that era of early Drum & Bass when i was younger. Cool

I could try and make some Sound FX as well, if need be, if i spend lots of time messing around with Synthesizers, but i'm not as confident about that, as the sounds in Rollcage were awesome, so a lot to live up too hehe. For Rockets and explosions, it would be better to use Foley Samples than Synths.

Anyways, big up to Slinger, Mac and Codie for your hard work doing complicated stuff i don't really understand. Thumbs Up

  Hello there !
Posted by: potterman28wxcv - 2014-01-26, 01:07 PM - Forum: The Pits - Replies (7)

Hi, I'm potterman28wxcv, a huge fan of Rollcage Stage II Smile

I have played RS2 since it came out, and that's a long time I'm waiting for a kind of new Rollcage to be released.

About the games I play, I love hack'n'slash, especially Torchlight 2 with the mod Synergies for those who know it : http://www.synergiesmod.com/

I'm also a beta tester of QuantumRush, a new futuristic racing game that be released later (but right now it's not very attractive ; they have a lot of balance to do) : http://www.quantum-rush.net/

Oh, and I'm also a fan of Freespace SCP, a space simulator game very dynamic, an old game that has been remastered by an awesome developing team. It's not very known, but if you love space simulators you wanna try this one : http://www.hard-light.net/

Now, about me. I'm a student in a french engineering school called ENSIMAG, which is a school for mathematics and informatics. So I'm studying everything about programming languages & networks & computer architecture etc.. http://ensimag.grenoble-inp.fr/ecole-nat...ENSIMAG_EN

Right now, I'm only mastering the ADA and C languages, as well as a bit of Shell scripting (and Texas Instruments algorithms when I was younger haha Smile ), but later (likely when i'll be more advanced in my studies, and when i'll have more time) i'd be glad to help you with this project.

At the moment, I've created a steam group to plan some multiplayer Rollcage Stage 2 playing : http://forum.recaged.net/thread-1593.html

If you want me to defeat you, I suggest you go in this group Cool

  New Year... New Possibilities!
Posted by: Slinger - 2013-12-31, 09:52 PM - Forum: The Pits - Replies (4)

I know this half of the year has been a bit disappointing for everyone following ReCaged. The website is still not finished, and it's waiting for the new title/logo. Which is also not finished. And don't get me started on the coding... And on top of that I've not been very active on the forum recently.

And I'm sorry for all that. Hopefully things will start to calm down soon, and let me return to my old hobbies - which mainly consists of a gigantic work queue for RC - lots and lots of sticky notes to digitalize and start working on.

Until then, maybe this will work as a teaser for things to come? It's an old concept scene for the initial menu background. It's heavily inspired by futurama (and it will fit into the storyline based on ideas by Mac):
Also, background music for this one: http://libre.fm/artist/paniq/track/Progression (requires a fairly good sound system to sound right, but the idea of using this song has been around for a long time and I WILL use it!)

Happy New Year!

And for something completely different: In Sweden this winter has been extraordinarily bad. It started out with a tiny bit of snow (very late) but now the temperature keeps insisting of being above 0, all that's left are spots of ice and it rains a lot... Kind of depressing. Tongue

Just wanted to say that I'm glad that this project still lives. I was.a bit worried when RollcageX's forum went down... Rollcage was one of my favourite games from my childhood, used to play a lot of 50 lap races with my friend on splitscreen. Big Grin

Also, this game was just presented at this years Assembly demoscene event's gamedev competition. Kinda looks like Rollcage eh?

EDIT: Haha, stupid me, I posted a wrong link... Now it's fixed.

Here's a little project I was hoping, but unable, to finish before exmas. Still lacks a lot of decoration, and due to not taking the bulging into account, I was unable to fit all three front pillars (so one of them mysteriously disappeared during the assemblyWink). Also, I haven't gotten around to decorate it, and the sugar around the windows are the result of an unsuccessful attempt to create windows (turns out sugar needs much more heat to melt than the 175° I used in the oven), might make a new attempt next year with some hard, transparent, blue caramels instead.
